For rectangular or oval tables longer than six feet, consider using two smaller chandeliers or a linear suspension light.

Over a dining table, the bottom of the chandelier should sit 30 to 36 inches above the table surface. For each additional foot of ceiling height above eight feet, raise the chandelier by three inches.
